My show “Seam-ingly” at 21 Grand Gallery in Oakland with Sarah Wagner is up until Sunday, September 9th. Go check it out! And many many warm thank yous to everyone who came to the opening to say goodbye and good luck. It was a fantastic send off for my trek out east. Which is a whole other story that I will illustrate with pictures. The trek was amazing. Prema, you are the best friend a girl could have. Thank you friend.

I have a solo show at Spazio 522 in Chelsea that opens Friday September 14th and runs until October 12th. I am very excited for the show, the space is beautiful. More on that soon.

In the meantime, here are some pictures from the road. A little note, a few years ago when my mom moved back to her native islands she gave me back all the ceramics I had done in high school. I didn’t want to throw them away so I packed them into the car and formulated a plan. Along the way to Brooklyn I left a piece in every state and took a picture. It’s like I still have them but now I don’t have to move them around with me every two years. Because I undoubtedly move every two years.

Seleta and Jesse’s arm, Oakland, CA pizza guy, Oakland, CA Richmond, CA Richmond, CA hotel room just outside Salt Lake City, UT lake just outside Salt Lake City, UT prema and the goose, SLC, UT Wyoming is the most beautiful state I have ever seen So, the Sturgis rally that happens in Sturgis, South Dakota just happened to be the same week we decided to drive. 500,000 bikers. 500,000 of the nicest people you will ever meet. For reals. Bikers were all over the place in South D, anywhere within 50 miles of the town of Sturgis. This bike was at Devils Tower Nat. Monument. It says “Texan by birth, American by grace” Devil’s Tower Sturgis rally as seen through a back street. What you might not be able to see is that there are ginormous Jack Daniels and Miller Lite blow up thingies. And what you can’t hear is that ZZ Top is playing. Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota. Who knew South D had so much going on. I could have spent a week there. Mt. Rushmore, South D. His shirt says “Bitchin Bod”. Wall Drug, South D. What an amazing way to sign a letter.
Wall Drug, South D. The most amazing biscuits and gravy. I am a huge biscuits and gravy fan and these were amazing. This looks a lot like Prema’s husband Kevin’s sweet wolf tattoo that he has on his chest. That is featured in my “One-A-Days”. That is also covering up a sweet Filipino gang tattoo. This guy was eating next to us at Wall Drug where I was enjoying my amazing biscuits and gravy. Badlands National Park, South D somewhere, Minnesota Amish land, Wisconsin Wisco. So many dead bugs. Rest stop in Illinois war veterans memorial Indiana rest stop Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland, OH cleveland It rained so hard in Cleveland that day. I’ve never driven in rain like that. And I’m from San Francisco. This was also the day there was a tornado warning an hour away from us. The emergency broadcast told us to pull over and find a place with a cellar or a deep ditch on the side of the road so we drove faster.
We did a lot of this.
Niagra Falls, NY This last one is for Jackson Durchfall. It was taken by Niagra Falls at an ice cream place where we finally got to taste custard frozen yogurt and it was delicious.

On a totally unrelated note, I saw this at a graveyard in Napa, it made me cry. There was no marker yet because the grave was so new, just flowers and this note.
